Logistics Coordinator

Broad Accountability

The Logistics Coordinator will work as a part of Saab Australia’s warehouse team and will be specifically responsible for international and domestic freight coordination. Further, this role assists the warehouse team with other operational day-to-day tasks and activities such as packaging, handling, storage, and location management of all Hardware (HW) items under Saab’s control.

Specific Accountabilities

  • Lead Saab’s management of international and domestic freight, in support of operational requirements
  • Coordinate Export/Import Control requirements
  • Coordinate Security requirements
  • Coordinate International Transport of Arms Regulations (ITAR) Controlled product contained in the Defence and Strategic Goods List (DSGL)
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of the company warehouse management processes and tools
  • Assist processing of all goods-in IAW the company processes including Receipt inspection
  • Coordinate dispatch and export Logistics
  • Coordinate WHS&E Control - Compliance, Audits, Writing Work Instructions, Training
  • Assist projects and corporate with HW storage and delivery activities
  • Assist the warehouse team with inventory movements
  • Support technical teams in the packaging, handling, storage and transport of equipment
  • Comply with legislation and Company policies, processes and instructions, including those relating to non-discrimination, Health & safety, Bullying, Harassment, Violence and Aggression, and duty of care and the quality management system.
  • Treat everyone with respect, communicate regularly and openly with manager and team, and ensure all decisions are made with fairness in mind.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills and Experience

Essential

  • Excellent understanding of freight management principles and processes
  • Excellent understanding of Import/Export control principles and processes
  • Experience in using MRP/ERP
  • Good understanding of configuration management principles
  • Good understanding of quality control principles and processes
  • The correct use and care of general purpose stores handling equipment
  • Problem solving appropriate to the role
  • Effective oral and written communications
  • Scheduling and planning of own work
  • Proficient in the use of PCs and relevant software applications (MS Office Suite, etc.)
  • Ability to obtain approval to handle ITAR Controlled product
  • 5+ years’ experience in transport and logistics
  • Experience working in a warehouse environment as  part of a team
  • Be an Australian citizen and being able to attain NV1 clearance
  • Evidence of adherence to Safe Work Practices
  • Experience in a certified ISO 9001 organisation

Desirable

  • Experience working with International Transport of Arms Regulations
  • Experience working with Military End Use product
  • Experience working with product contained on the Defence and Strategic Goods List (DSGL)
  • Familiarity with applicable standards such as Def-Aust-1000C
  • Experience in working within Australian Defence industry
  • Forklift Licence and experience

Educational Qualifications and Professional Memberships

Desirable

  • Diploma in Logistics Management
  • Certificate III in International Freight Forwarding (Operator)
